EFA Project Space’s SHIFT: A Residency for Arts Workers

Residency Dates

January 10 - June 22, 2022

Residency Exhibition Dates

June 20 - July 23, 2022

SHIFT: A Residency for Arts Workers supports NYC-based artists who are also arts workers through a 6 month long cohort-focused dedicated residency program focused on professional development and creative practices while advocating for artists as arts workers in the field. SHIFT Residents share a studio space at EFA Center in Midtown Manhattan, benefit from monthly crit sessions and visiting curator and artist talks, and work toward a culminating exhibition in the summer.

SHIFT Residents are practicing artists who hold positions at New York City arts organizations (for instance, as administrators, museum educators/teaching artists, technical/fabricators, etc.) Applicants should hold the equivalent of full-time positions at arts organizations (min 32 hours per week, though this can be spread across multiple institutions, and recently laid off arts workers are encouraged to apply), and should not be concurrently enrolled in a degree-granting program.
