Resident Spotlight: Chad Stayrook
August 26, 2011
Chad is from Columbus Ohio and works at the Bronx River Art Center as Gallery Director and Curator.
We have already told you about the resident's professional lives here, so we decided to get a little more personal. To learn a little more about them in and outside of the studio we have asked our residents to respond to questions on topics from art to late night snacking. Here are Chad's answers:
Preferred mode of transportation: taxi, bike, subway, foot?
I like biking on the subway. If that's not an option I usually opt for just straight up biking. I also drive a lot (gasp!)
If you couldn’t work in the arts/be an artist, what kind of work would you do?
An astrologist and psychic to the stars.
If a celebrity were to play you in a movie who would it be?
I am a celebrity.
Are you are morning or evening person?
Evening. I like working on my night moves.
If you could commission a personalized art work by any artist living or dead, who would you want?
Carl Sagan.
What are your creative inspirations?
Spirit animals. Time machines. Theoretical science. Theoretical fantasy. Douglas Paulson.
What are you working on now?
A variety show of performance/video, sculpture, and drawings.
If you could collaborate with anyone, who would it be?
I'm open to collaborate with anyone. Send a proposal to cstayrook@gmail.com
If you could have lived as an artist in any time period, when would that be?
I'm pretty happy with this time period. But if I need to select another I would say in the Future Time Period.
