Ken Price once said that a craftsman knows what she or he is going to do and an artist doesn't know what they are going to do.
This statement touches home with me. In these recent works I had no preconceived idea of what I was going to do. The painting has a voice of its own. That voice reveals itself through the process. It is important for me to listen to the voice and to paint, not knowing what the result will be, but to make a decision on when to stop.
