Digital to Pronto

Learn how to create beautiful lithographs without ever grinding a stone! The polyester surface of a Pronto or Smart plate mimics the surface of a lithographic stone. You can either draw on either side of the plate using cheap Bic or Papermate ballpoint pens, sharpies and paint pens. Or you can just run the plate through a laser printer! The transparency of these plates allows one to work with multiple colors easily, and to register them with imagery printed from other sources. Their portability and minimal processing makes it an easy way to learn the lithographic process.
Justin Sanz is the Shop Technician for RBPMW. He has maintained this Epson 7800 for the past four years and used it for his own work and in collaboration with other artists. Sanz is an artist and collaborative printer exhibiting locally and internationally.
